On-Call Emergency & Spill Response Technician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Timely arrival to customer emergencies and spill response. Assist in site preparation and project operations. Stock, clean and organize spill response trailer. Ability to timely, neatly and accurately complete paperwork including required safety forms, work orders, manifest and labeling. Capability to work independently or as a team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and prepare equipment for jobs. Reload equipment upon job completion and unload equipment upon return to the shop. This includes lifting, carrying and pulling equipment of various size, shape and weight.

  • Clean, stock and organize spill response trailer as needed.

  • Understand the operations of all equipment on the various jobs and their application based on the requirements of the job.

  • Perform confined space entry in tanks, pits, trenches and other areas that may include climbing, standing and working in awkward positions.

  • Inspect, use and maintain various personal protection equipment including chemical protective suits, respiratory protections equipment, safety harnesses and air monitoring equipment.

  • Setup and operate various hand-held and hand-operated equipment

  • Work in a variety of work environments including hot and cold weather, noisy environments, etc.

  • Responsible for his/her own on-the-job safety and work quality.

  • Check all load-related paperwork prior to movement of load to ensure completeness and accuracy including Manifests, Bill of Lading, Land Disposal Restriction forms, etc.

  • Ability to complete manifests and labeling as required

  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Clean driving record in accordance with the company’s current auto insurance carrier

  • Chauffeur’s license required, CDL preferred.

  • Able to understand basic equipment operating instructions and safe work practices

  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Must be professional and courteous

  • Must be able to work with little guidance and supervision
